How I got here

My career started the way many careers do: in sales. From retail to magazine advertising, I finally found my place with a small nonprofit team in Indiana doing fundraising and event planning. That work eventually led me to public relations in Branson, Missouri, where I handled media relations for Silver Dollar City and two other Herschend Family Entertainment properties.

From there I spent six years leading marketing and membership for a YMCA association in Indiana, where I learned how to earn a community's trust one conversation at a time.

Federal consulting came next. At the Department of Veterans Affairs, I wrote the story for a national inclusion initiative and led the team that carried it to more than 400,000 employees. That work earned a MarCom Platinum Award and made me an honorary VA employee. I then built the marketing practice at a Columbus consulting firm and led communications for client mergers.

Today I report on Ohio's technology companies for Ohio Tech News, write features for Purpose Jobs, and ghostwrite for leaders at major Ohio health systems. Through Erin Gregory Creative, I take on select consulting work. My clients and publications have included Forbes Health, Purpose Jobs, PSI, The ToDo Institute, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Elevate Northland, and OhioX.

I built much of this career while raising three daughters, and I write about what that took on Substack. The people doing the most important work are often the ones existing systems support least, and that belief runs through everything I write.
